Sahar Simmons is a Hampton University graduate, with a degree in Mass Communications. In the Briana's Neighborhood Books Series, Simmons created a positive and lovable character which focuses in on the undistorted African American experience.

Simmons's professional background has also added to the success of her creative character.  She started with a background in music and performing arts.  Simmons started creating at a very young age; poems, songs and scripts.  She started her career in the sports industry working for TNT Sports, The NBA and NFL and later worked on three major Hollywood films.  Writing has always been a true passion and talent of Sahar Simmons.

Briana's Neighborhood builds the cultural integrity residing in the experiences of children from multicultural backgrounds and believes in bringing the element of excitement and curiosity back into literacy through the fun loving, witty yet intelligent eight-year old girl..

The books are written from a child's perspective to help children learn through Briana's experiences. Life experiences such as peer pressure, self-esteem and puberty.
